Forehead Lift
Our expressions are often visible signs of how we feel. When we are angry, we may frown, creating a furrowed forehead or brow. A low or sagging brow may make us appear sad or tired even when we are not. For some people, such characteristics may become permanent, either as a result of overactive muscles in the forehead and brow region, heredity or the way in which we age.
A forehead lift, or “browlift,” is a surgical procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above your eyes. The procedure corrects drooping brows and improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry or tired. A repositioned brow may also improve the hooding in the upper eyelid.
The surgery may be performed through multiple limited incisions within the hairline, utilizing a viewing instrument called an endoscope or conventionally via an incision across the scalp hidden just behind the hairline. Both procedures can yield similar results. Our plastic surgeons can discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each approach during your consultation. During the consultation, the procedure can be individualized to help address specific problem areas that a patient might have. A discussion of the procedure, its goals, the anticipated post-operative course, as well as potential complications will be presented. You will have to decide if the benefits will achieve your goals, and if the risks and potential complications are acceptable.

Browlifts may be combined with other procedures such as eyelid surgery and facelifts. The refreshed appearance and smoother look after the surgery will likely be long lasting. These effects may be maintained or enhanced by a healthy lifestyle and life-long sun protection.
