Dr. Schmitt joined GBPSA in 1985.

Dr. Schmitt graduated from the University of Illinois Medical School as a James Scholar. He completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Schmitt is also listed in the Guide to America's Top Plastic Surgeons.

Dr. Schmitt and his wife Linda have two sons, Gene and Andrew, two daughters, Emily and Rebecca, and a grandson, Eugene. His many interests include world travel, motorcycling and flying.
